Extra Care for Anxious Children:

Children are calm and comfortable in our office.  For those children who have anxiety and may need more than a gentle, caring environment to feel comfortable, we offer several options to help your child get the treatment they need while feeling at ease.  We can often accomplish treatment for mildly anxious children with just nitrous oxide (laughing gas) in the office.  For greater treatment needs, longer appointments, very young age, and high anxiety levels, a family may choose general anesthesia in our office with our board-certified anesthesiologists.  Still others may better qualify for treatment under general anesthesia at Watauga Medical Center.  With both general anesthesia option, the child can have all their treatment needs accomplished in one visit.  Our team will make sure you understand, have time to discuss, and feel comfortable with all your options.  We will always choose the most conservative treatment options available to your child, and we seek to use non-invasive procedures whenever possible. However, there are times when your child may need to be sedated to care for them properly. Ultimately, their safety and comfort are our utmost concern. We customize each case individually and will discuss sedation only if necessary.
